DESCRIPTION:
MASTIC SEALING TAPE is a self-adhering membrane to be used as a base for acrylic coatings. Tape works
to seal seams, cracks and holes in surfaces immediately and easily but is not intended as a wearing surface and must be completely covered after application. The tape is designed to
easily peel back a paper covering on one side to expose a super adhesive bottom side for a fast, secure adhesion to a surface while the top side has a built-in polyester mesh membrane for
strength and flexibility. Tape is a unique formulation of premium grade bituminous resin modified with synthetic resins and then reinforced with a polyester fabric which provides a
substrate for acrylic coatings. Tape is insert, inorganic and will never rot, decay or be affected by bacteria/fungus. Application is recommended at a minimum air and surface temperature
of 70°F or above. The tape has excellent adhesion to clean wood, concrete and steel. Some applications may require a primed surface.
ADVANTAGES:
The smooth surface provided by the tape membrane makes an excellent substrate for acrylic coatings.
The overlap seam on the 36" width rolls helps "dry-in" the application much sooner. The availability of slit widths open many new applications for acrylic applications such
as -- steel buildings, grain bin bases, mobile home seams, air infiltration and many others. Along with commercial and residential roof applications, you may also consider foundations,
decks, earth sheltered houses, and many other waterproofing problems.
The tape must in all applications be overcoated with SUPER THERM to protect it from the damaging
effects of the sun's UVs. The tape comes in 4-inch, 6-inch, 24-inch and 36-inch widths to compensate for the smallest to largest jobs. Caulking metal, concrete fiber glass, or wood
seams is time consuming and messy, resulting most times in ineffective seals. With the problem of major roofing jobs in sealing seams, MASTIC SEALING TAPE requires a fraction of the labor
while sealing nail heads as it seals the seam effectively. Its adhesiveness, flexibility and strength make the tape fast, easy, extremely effective and cost efficient.
APPLICATION:
Surfaces should be clean, dry and sound. Existing surface dirt, oil, tar, grease, and film should be
removed from surface by approved methods prior to application.
USAGE:
This mastic is used on seams of metal buildings to cover and seal seams and screw heads to water seal them.
The membrane imbedded on the top of the tape is designed to bond SUPER THERM coating and completely seal and insulate the roofing structure.
NOTE: The tape is not UV-controlled and
must be covered with one coat of SUPER BASE and one coat of SUPER THERM. If not covered, the UVs will cause the tape to dry out.
