MOIST METAL GRIP
MSDS Sheet

RUST GRIP / MOIST METAL GRIP Summary:

Designed to resist weathering that promotes rust, and to withstand acids, salts, petrochemical products and caustic materials

Encapsulates rust and corrosion forming an air tight and moisture proof barrier virtually eliminating future rust and corrosion

RUST GRIP / MOIST METAL GRIP Attributes:

Extremely tough / durable

Abrasion and mechanical impact resistant

Flexible and will not crack or peel from expansion and contraction during extreme temperature variations

Resistant to continuous immersion in acids, salts, alkalis, oils, solvents and other refined chemicals

Encapsulate toxic materials

EPA approved to encapsulate toxic materials, including lead based paint and asbestos, eliminating the need for expensive procedures to remove the toxic material.

Applied to dry or wet surfaces

Protective Coating

Applied to new surfaces to prevent future corrosion problems, and older surfaces over the existing corrosion to prohibit further corrosion

Extremely weather resistant and UV resistant for long life in adverse environments

High temperature resistance, up to 392ºF

Easy to apply

Roller, brush or spray application

One coat application that dries in 2 hours

Will penetrate and encapsulate up to 18 coats of other paint

RUST GRIP / MOIST METAL GRIP Cost Benefits:

Requires less preparation time with no expensive and dirty sandblasting requirements

Encapsulate toxic materials, including lead based paint and asbestos, eliminating the need for expensive procedures to remove the toxic material and its disposal

There’s no need to risk poisoning workers or contaminating the environment

Applied to new surfaces to prevent future corrosion problems, and older surfaces to prohibit further corrosion reducing repair cost.

Environmentally safe

Without question the most effective versatile encapsulating and pore penetrating coating on the market

Protective coating savings will more than offset the cost of repair/replacing damage from corrosion or costly removal of toxic material

Is ranked #1 in Field Testing against all other corrosion control coatings

Testing has shown life expectancy to be 25+ years

Eliminates need for costly sandblasting and grinding

Eliminates need for costly toxic waste removal

DESCRIPTION:

Tough adherent, 2-component Epoxy coatings, which produce hard, yet flexible coating films. These epoxy products will demonstrate excellent chemical- and solvent-resistance when utilized in harsh atmospheres, and will also provide outstanding water- and humidity-resistance.
These coatings will adhere tenaciously to a variety of substrates, such as carbon steel (phosphated or non-phosphated), wood, and concrete. These products can be utilized in DTM (direct-to-metal) applications, with excellent success, as they have been fortified with a very efficient, non-toxic, rust-inhibitive pigment.

APPLICATION METHODS:

MIX IN CURING AGENT, THEN LET STAND FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE USING. Surfaces should be clean, dry surfaces but designed to be applied to damp or wet surfaces free of debris (oils and chemicals) without loss of adhesion ability. (Methods: SSPC-SP-2, SP-3, SP-6, SP -7) This product is user-friendly, in that it may be applied by brush, roller, or spray and may even be applied to damp or moist substrates without fear of adhesion loss. Additionally, these products will exhibit a pot-life in excess of 6 hours. #ME Series Products are environmentally-friendly with a VOC of 3.5 pounds per gallon. IMMEDIATELY UPON JOB COMPLETION, FLUSH UNIT AND LINES WITH SOLVENT (MEK) TO PROTECT FROM PRODUCT CURING INSIDE MACHINERY.
Coat (6 dry mil) recommended for offshore rigs or oil tank flooring. LET DRY 24 TO 48 HOURS. Completely cures in 10 days.
NOTE: When used in exterior coating applications, MMG will chalk and lose gloss. For maximum exterior weathering properties, top coat with ENAMO GRIP. Suitable substrates: Clean, bare carbon steel, phosphated metals, primed metals, wood, and concrete.

IMPORTANT:

Do not apply over chlorinated rubber. Even after sandblasting, the chlorination can attack the solvents and brittle the coating.  MSDS Quick-View:

 • DOT #UN-1263
 • Lead- and chromate-free

OPERATOR / APPLICATOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

Applicator must, at all times during use, wear a Bureau of Mines -approved, 2-stage (charcoal and cotton) paint spray respirator, designed for removal of organic vapors, or a fresh air-supplied type of respirator.
Protective clothing and protective eyewear (goggles) are recommended.
